HPB Parent Club — What would help families build healthier habits?

Start with the family, before the feature.

Parent Club began with a question: how could a digital companion help parents and children build healthier habits together?

Before choosing features, the team needed to understand family routines, what parents would find useful and how a shared experience could support parent–child connection.

The question before the product.

How might a digital companion fit into everyday family life? The discovery work starts here, before choosing a feature or format.

Use a prototype to ask better questions.

Make the ideas tangible early. Put concepts and prototypes in front of families and experts, then use each round of research to shape the next.

Learn from family life.

The five-month discovery engaged 236 families and experts. Concepts and prototypes gave participants something concrete to respond to.

Let the research change the product.

Eight research rounds informed successive iterations. The work turned initial assumptions into recommendations for further development.

Make the idea tangible. Then learn from it.

Prototype iterations brought the direction into a form that families and experts could respond to.

A direction shaped by the people it could serve.

The discovery produced prototypes and a research-informed direction for a family health companion. It established what to explore next, before committing to a public product launch.
